20 Years Past Weiser: What's Next?
نویسنده
چکیده
I n 1999—almost a decade after Mark Weiser wrote his seminal article1—the then-popular search engine Alta Vista found seven hits in response to a “pervasive computing” search query. Today, Google responds with more than 1,900,000 search results (or 2,300,000 for “ubiquitous computing”). The dawning of this research field is over—we’ve reached the break of day! The question now is, what’s next? Here, I discuss the challenge of identifying new trails of pervasive computing research. In particular, I report on the structured “research roadmap” solicitation process conducted over the past three years, which involved some 240 of the top researchers in the field. The resulting book, Pervasive Adaptation: The Next Generation Pervasive Computing Research Agenda, coexists in the digital and physical realm and articulates next-generation research directions for the pervasive computing community.2

B-type natriuretic peptide levels: diagnostic and prognostic in congestive heart failure: what's next?
Although major advances in our understanding of the pathophysiology of congestive heart failure (CHF) have resulted in treatments that lead to symptomatic improvement and longer life, CHF still remains a major clinical challenge, especially in the areas of diagnosis, prognosis, and risk stratification. For the first time since the introduction of echocardiography some 20 years ago, a simple blo...

What's known on the subject? and What does the study add? Dedicated training hours for surgeons are falling as the complexity of techniques and patient expectations are increasing. Urologists therefore need to train in more sophisticated and effective ways. This article looks at past and current urological training and suggests emerging and innovative ways to teach the next generation of urolog...
متن کاملWhere Next for Microbiome Research?
The development of high-throughput sequencing technologies has transformed our capacity to investigate the composition and dynamics of the microbial communities that populate diverse habitats. Over the past decade, these advances have yielded an avalanche of metagenomic data. The current stage of "van Leeuwenhoek"-like cataloguing, as well as functional analyses, will likely accelerate as DNA a...
